This month to celebrate the fact I still have loads of photos from my trip to New York City last year, I am throwing the milk&miel doors open to all those analogue lovers of the big apple!

There will be guest posts from some of my favourite bloggers, lots of never-blogged-before photos from my analogue archives & generally a whole lot of love for the city that never sleeps.

Brisbane City Lights with La Sardina

La Sardina (Lomography CN 800)

Ever since my luck with long exposure bulb shots in New York, I've been slightly obsessed with taking night shots... especially since most of the cameras I use require either natural light or a flash, its nice to know that there are other shots you can take at nighttime.

These photographs are of Brisbane at night, taken over the Christmas holidays while I was visiting my family & friends. It wasn't easy to get a whole lot of light trails, since there were hardly any cars on the road, but I love how the lights of the city & Southbank glow in these shots.

I had Lomography CN 800 film already in the camera, so I wasn't sure how long to leave the shutter open while using the bulb setting, but most of these shots are between 20-30 seconds.

Apologies for the quiet time on the blog front, being back at work & training up a new assistant... along with enjoying summer, I've sadly neglected blogging.

Guggenheim New York City - Diana Mini

The beautiful majestic Frank Lloyd Wright Guggenheim Museum is in many ways both a cultural & architectural icon, but when you stand in it's shadow while glaring up at the long curves of it's facade it almost feels as if it breathes, deep heaving breaths into it's surroundings. While inside, I felt like I lost the concept of where I was a few times, due to it's shrine like ambience, you feel like you are within such a holy space that you no longer wonder what exists outside it's walls.

More Fuji Instax in NYC

I returned home from New York City with almost 100 Fuji Instax photographs... other than a handful taken in Washington DC, they are perfect little glimpses in the streets of NYC. I love how Instax, like polaroids, give a raw sense of the moment the photographs were taken, as if a little piece of time is preserved in that little piece of emulsion.

Goodbye Melbourne, Hello New York.

Diana Mini - Argyle Square (film Kodak B&WCN 400) 

I really did want to do a few more blog entries before I went on holiday, but you know how life gets in the way etc etc... so here I am am sitting in the airport departure lounge waiting for my first flight of my holiday wishing that I'd gotten around to finish shooting the film in my new Superheadz Wide & Slim camera before my holiday so I could review it... but that will have to wait until I return from New York at the end of July.

Until then, I hope to keep you a little updated while on holiday. Many photos will be taken, but since I am only taking my iPad, I may have to wait until I return to show you any of my film photos.
